An Oregon woman is facing a string of charges, including driving under the influence after sparking an amber alert when she reported her car stolen with her four-week-old son inside.
West Linn Police say Terra Nicole Brandenburg, 31, collided with the side of a bridge Wednesday night, parked her car in an apartment parking lot and walked across the street to a gas station where she used a rest room, purchased a box of wine and left.
She returned moments later claiming her car had been stolen with her infant son inside,” a police statement read. “The clerk was concerned when the woman called family rather than report the crime to police.

Brandenburg did eventually notify authorities and an amber alert was launched — only to be cancelled moments later. The mother fled when police arrived.
“As soon as our lieutenant arrived, she ran on foot and we ended up catching her in the parking lot behind the mill,” Sgt. David Kempas told KGW.
Officers located Brandenburg’s vehicle nearby and found her son, four-week-old Fallon, and a three-year-old Doberman Pinscher named Stoger inside. Fallon’s father arrived and took custody of both child and dog.
Police say a breath test later showed that Brandenburg’s blood alcohol content “was .25%, three times the statutory limit.” She was charged with criminal mistreatment, reckless endangering, child neglect, initiating a false report, reckless driving, disorderly conduct, and DUI.
