A White Rock man, who gained Internet fame after his elephant selfie went viral earlier last year, is capturing online attention again with a drone video of a frozen pond in Surrey.
Christian LeBlanc says he was driving by the Serpentine River on King George Boulevard this past weekend when he saw people skating and playing hockey on the pond.
“I knew immediately I had to take advantage of the beauty of the scene,” says LeBlanc.
So he went home, got his drone out and captured the video that has now been viewed more than 11,000 times on YouTube.
LeBlanc says he just recently quit his job to make YouTube videos full-time.

“I am glad to be pursuing something that I am truly excited about,” he says.
The proliferation of drone videos
Stunning videos shot using drones have been making headlines around the world, including here in B.C.
But while flying drones recreationally is legal in Canada, there are a number of restrictions that need to be followed.
Transport Canada says drones can’t be flown closer than nine kilometers from any airport, heliport, or aerodrome, higher than 90 meters above the ground or closer than 150 meters from people, animals, buildings, structures, or vehicles.
Drones also can’t be flown near moving vehicles, highways, bridges, busy streets or anywhere you could endanger or distract drivers.
