KELOWNA, B.C. – The first work week of 2016 came with the first snowstorm of the year and was cause for many accidents, including a fatal that shut down Highway 97 south of Summerland Monday.

RCMP made a rare travel advisory to limit travel on Highway 97 between Vernon and Kelowna Monday due to extremely icy road conditions.
Police were warning travelers to slow down or simply stay off the roads except for essential travel overnight into Tuesday.
