VAUDREUIL-DORION – The province announced Monday it is creating a lane-change system on the Île-aux-Tourtes bridge to help commuters.
The morning of Jan. 4 — and for the next eight to 10 weeks — three lanes of the bridge will head eastbound in the morning and westbound in the evenings during rush hour.
The change is a welcome relief from lane-clogging roadwork that’s been going on since a crack was discovered on the bridge Dec. 4.

Marie-Claude Nichols, the MNA for Vaudreuil, said officials may request the change to be permanent after the work’s completed.
