MONTREAL – The Île-aux-Tourtes bridge will be under construction for an undetermined period of time, announced Transports Quebec.
The bridge’s righthand lane on the eastbound side was completely closed Friday while workers repaired structural damage.
Monday, all three lanes were opened, but trucks were banned from the right lane.
In a statement, the ministry insisted that the bridge remains safe; the closure is to limit the number of vehicles and lighten the weight-load.
Police officers will remain on the scene to direct vehicles and make sure the flow of traffic stays smooth.
The AMT has added extra trains to help alleviate the congestion.
The bridge connects the suburbs of Vaudreuil-Dorion, Hudson, Saint-Lazare and others to the island of Montreal.
