From sweet wildlife to lovable domesticated animals, the past year has been full of adorable animal stories.
Rescue stories
One of the most touching animal videos from this year was of an injured baby doe that refused to leave the side of her rescuer. For days, Darius Sasnauskas helped the fawn regain strength. He attempted to release it back to its deer family but the doe would not leave his side.
This rescue story is sure to warm your heart. Strong storm winds and rains in the UK and Ireland washed away a donkey’s shed and fence, leaving him stranded for over 12 hours. An animal rescue organization towed him back to dry land and the donkey flashed a grateful grin.
It’s not every day that you get to take a selfie with a powerful animal like a bald eagle. Well that was the case for Ontario brothers Neil and Michael Fletcher after they helped free the trapped bird of prey.
This sweet feline was the talk of the town when the All Valley Animal Hospital put him up for adoption. He was found dragging his back legs around, and even after surgery, Forest’s back legs remained out of commission. The hospital says they were inundated with adoption applications, but that they still haven’t found a suitable family for Forest.

Animals out of their element
This summer, a family of bears decided to go for an afternoon swim. Not in a river or a lake, but in the backyard pool of a New Jersey family. The Bassos filmed their wild encounter with a mother bear and her five cubs as they frolicked in their pool and played on their swing set.
An excited jackrabbit stole the attention from Edmonton Eskimos’ Kendial Lawrence during this year’s Labour Day Classic. The white-tailed furball evaded capture and even showed off with a “touchdown dance” as it leaped over the end zone.
Cute baby animals
A few more farm animals made the cut this year: a pair of baby goats in fleece pajamas prancing around the barn. Farm owner Hope Hall said the goats hate the rain and figured they might be more comfortable in PJs. We’re glad she did!
Here in Canada, a pair of giant panda cubs delighted the online world when the Toronto Zoo released adorable videos of the cubs’ growth. One of the latest videos is one of the then eight-week-old cubs having a yawning fit.
