Connor McDavid inching closer to return from clavicle injury

EDMONTON – Connor McDavid isn’t expected to return to the Edmonton Oilers line-up for at least another month after suffering a cracked clavicle, but his progress is reason for optimism for fans.

The young phenom is now skating and he’s pleased with his recovery.

“It’s doing good. Yeah, it feels good,” McDavid said Tuesday in Toronto.

While he’s eager to return to the line-up, McDavid won’t give a timeline for his return.

The 18-year-old is focused on being patient and smart during the recovery process to increase the chances of not suffering the same injury again.

“It’s something you don’t want to have happen and you want to make sure it’s going to heal, so just being patient with it.”

The Oilers have won seven of their last 10 games, putting them one point out of a playoff spot as of Tuesday morning.

McDavid had 12 points in 13 games before getting injured on Nov. 3 against the Philadelphia Flyers.

Edmonton was 5-8-0 with McDavid in the lineup.
