Second victim in Mac’s store robbery and shooting spree identified

EDMONTON- Friends and family are mourning the death of 41-year-old Ricardo Cenabre. The convenience store employee was killed at a south Edmonton Mac’s store early Friday morning.

Masked thieves burst into the Pleasantview store around 3:30 a.m.

Michael Castro, a friend of the victim, said Cenabre had lived in Canada for about 5 years. “He was a very responsible guy,” Castro said. Cenabre often worked the night shift at the store, sending money back to the Philippines to support his wife and child. Castro described his friend “Ricky” as “very friendly.”

Sarah Chaloux called Cenabre her best friend.”We discussed and talked about what if something were to happen to one of us and how there would be a void in each other’s lives,” she said. “I just never  imagined for one second that this would happen.”

The robbery and killing happened just 15 minutes after 35-year-old Karanpal Singh Bhangu, also a convenience store clerk, was gunned down inside another Mac’s store in Millwoods.
