MONTREAL – The fire that claimed the life of a 59-year-old Rosemont man is now being investigated as a homicide, according to Montreal police.
A spokesperson told Global News that the force’s major crimes unit determined the victim had been murdered following the autopsy.
This is the 28th homicide in the city this year.

The fire broke out late Tuesday night on Dézéry Street between Rachel and Sherbrooke streets.
He was not known to police.
The police are not saying what caused the man’s death, or if he died before or during the fire.
