CALGARY – Nine people were forced from a southwest condo building on Friday due to a fire.
Firefighters were called to the 1900 block of 35 Street S.W. at around 6:50 a.m.
When they arrived, crews could see smoke coming from a four-unit two-storey condo complex.
Residents living in the building were able to get out safely after being alerted to the fire by smoke alarms.
Fire crews kept the fire contained to the unit of origin and were able to quickly extinguish it.
“Three people will not be going home due to the moderate damage from smoke and fire to their unit,” said the Calgary Fire Department in a news release.
The three other condo units were unaffected by the fire.
No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
