A young man fell through Tucelnuit Lake in Oliver late Thursday afternoon but was able to survive, clinging on to the edge of the ice, until crews were able to rescue him.
Fire crews say the teen was about 30 metres away from shore.

He was conscious when crews reached him, but officials didn’t have details on his current condition.
“I bet he was exhausted,” says Rob Graham with the Oliver fire department. “I don’t know how long he’d been there when we arrived on scene, but at that point hypothermia can become a problem, if he’s been in the water for a long period of time.”
As soon as he reached the shore, the victim was rushed to hospital.
