CALGARY – Four Calgary men are facing 38 drug-related charges after a fentanyl trafficking investigation.
The Calgary Police Service Drug Unit started an eight-week investigation in October after getting a tip from a member of the public.
Lab analysis of drugs obtained early in the investigation showed that some of the pills contained deadly amounts of the drug fentanyl. They were registering 4.7 – 5.6 mg of fentanyl per tablet, which is two to three times the average lethal dose.
“It is not yet known whether this highly toxic fentanyl is responsible for any deaths in Calgary,” said police in a Tuesday news release.
