A jockey who was paralyzed during a race in June was able to buy a new wheelchair accessible home with money donated in three months.
Alyssa Selman was paralyzed after she was thrown from her horse on June 27, 2015 during a race at the Assinboia Downs.

Between July 2 and July 3 trust accounts at three different locations were started to accept donations to help Selman and her family. A GoFundMe page was also started and has raised over $15,000.
From July 2 to October 9, $118, 000 was raised. Selman used most of the money to purchase a four-year-old wheelchair accessible home near Stephenfield, Manitoba.

Selman and her family moved into the home on November 1 according to a note posted to the Assiniboia Downs website. “Alyssa wishes to thank the numerous individuals who have helped her along the way,” the note said.
