TORONTO — A man was found dead after a fire in an apartment building in Toronto’s St. Jamestown neighbourhood on Friday.
Emergency crews responded to the fire at 275 Bleecker Street, in the Bleecker Street and St. James Avenue area, at about 2 p.m. Friday.
Firefighters arrived on the second floor and found smoke coming out of the windows and upgraded the call to a second alarm fire.

Toronto Fire Services Capt. Adrian Ratushniak said the unidentified man was found in a second floor apartment and pronounced dead at the scene.
Nine firetrucks and 35 firefighters attended to the fire, which was extinguished before 3 p.m., and smoke was reported up to the building’s 12th floor.
The Ontario Fire Marshall is expected to arrive on scene at about 5 p.m., Ratushniak said.
Police and paramedics could not yet provide any information on the age or gender of the deceased, or the cause of the fire.
