LETHBRIDGE- Lethbridge School District No. 51 is remaining cautiously optimistic on all student planned international trips after concerns about violence overseas and in the U.S.
School board officials said they have already begun having conversations with teachers and parents about travelling alternatives. Cheryl Gilmore, the superintendent of Lethbridge School Board District No.51 said final decisions should be made a month before students are scheduled to leave.
“We do have six trips that are scheduled for overseas, but no decisions have been made yet. Certainly what we have done is met with administrators and let them know to have alternative plans in place and look at what that might mean for them,” explained Gilmore.
Gilmore said if the international travel rating is at a high degree of caution advising “no travel”, the board will cancel the trip.
“One of the schools was going to go to Paris and now they are going to Quebec,” said Gilmore.
