MONTREAL – Firefighters were called to a blaze in Montreal’s Sud-Ouest borough early Thursday morning.

It happened around 2 a.m. when a small fire broke out in a triplex undergoing renovations on Briand and Holy Cross streets, in the borough’s Côte-Saint-Paul district.

Firefighters were able to get the blaze under control in less than an hour.

“After inspection, the cause of the fire was suspicious,” said André Leclerc with Montreal police.

“The investigation was transferred to the Montreal arson squad.”
