Hat trick for Rocket Rourke Chartier’s return to play

KELOWNA, B.C. – Rourke Chartier is obviously feeling better, scoring three goals Wednesday night on home ice to help the Kelowna Rockets win 4-1 over the Kootenay Ice.

Chartier, originally from Saskatoon, missed 19 games due to an unidentified upper body injury.

Justin Kirkland scored for Kelowna as well, with Nick Merkley taking two assists.

Kootenay netminder Wyatt Hoflin took home the third star on the night for stopping the majority of Kelowna’s attack in his zone.

Kelowna outshot the Ice 59-19.

The win improves the Rockets record to 20-6-1-0 on the season, placing them at the top of the B.C. Division and Western Conference of the WHL.

The Medicine Hat Tigers travel to Kelowna to take on the Rockets Friday night. Fans are asked to bring in a donation for the Kelowna Food Bank for a chance at prizes.
