CALGARY – The sentencing hearing for a man who pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the death of a Calgary mother is expected to resume this week.
Christopher Dunlop was arrested in connection with the death of 38-year-old Laura Furlan in 2012.
He was scheduled to stand trial on a charge of first-degree murder earlier this year, but entered a guilty plea to the lesser charge of manslaughter.

Furlan was reported missing by her family on Aug. 31, 2009. One week later, her body was found in Fish Creek Park by a man walking his dog.
At the time of her death, Furlan had reportedly been working in the sex trade after losing her job as an administrative assistant. Police said her DNA was found inside Dunlop’s truck.
Dunlop also pleaded guilty to committing an indignity to a human body.
His sentencing hearing began on Nov. 20. A decision on sentencing is expected on Friday.
