Woman charged with manslaughter in Sucker River suspicious death

LA RONGE – Shawna Finlayson, a 27-year-old woman from Sucker River, has been charged with one count of manslaughter in the death of Howard Roberts, 51, of Montreal Lake, Sask.

Finlayson was arrested without incident on Saturday in Sucker River, located 30 kilometres northeast of La Ronge. She will make her first court appearance in La Ronge on Monday morning at 9:30 a.m. CT.

The La Ronge RCMP received the initial call shortly after 3 a.m. CT on Saturday. When they arrived on scene in Sucker River they discovered Roberts’ body.

An autopsy will be conducted on Monday in Saskatoon.

This investigation is ongoing with the assistance of RCMP Major Crime Unit – North, the Prince Albert RCMP General Investigation Section, Prince Albert and Tisdale Forensic Identification Unit, and the Office of the Chief Corner.
