SUMMERLAND, B.C. – It was 28 years ago when the Chamber of Commerce in Summerland decided to lure Americans up to the Okanagan for Thanksgiving.
Now, the annual Christmas Light Up on the American holiday weekend draws about 6,000 every year both from Canada and the U.S.

“It’s been a growing and successful event ever since then,” says Christine Pektau, Chamber of Commerce Executive Director. “It’s a fantastic street party!”
This year celebrated with a country western theme.
A parade kicked off the event, streets were lit up at 7 p.m. and fireworks wrapped up the festivities at 8:30 p.m.
Summerland streets will stay festively lit for the next month.
