Calgary motorists had to contend with snow-covered roads on their morning commute Tuesday.
There wasn’t a lot of snow – less than 3 centimeters overnight – but with the wind it was enough to hamper visibility and cover some lanes.
A spokesperson for the roads department says the city was prepared.
“We looked ahead at the forecast and we saw that we were going to be getting some snow overnight,” said Brittany Kustra, City of Calgary Roads.

Crews worked all night applying anti-icing material. In addition, the city dispatched more than 90 sanders and other equipment to concentrate on “priority one” routes, like Crowchild Trail.
Contractors were also called in to plow trouble spots, like hilly roads and bridge decks.
Calgary police had to deal with minor collisions throughout the city. Their message to drivers – slow down.
