EDMONTON — RCMP believe road conditions played a factor in a fatal collision northeast of Edmonton Monday night.

RCMP were called to a two-vehicle crash on Highway 28 at Range Road 154, just east of Smoky Lake, at around 6:45 p.m.

Police believe a car heading east on Highway 28 lost control and slid into a westbound pick-up truck and trailer.

The man driving the car died at the scene. He was the only person in the vehicle at the time. His name has not been released.

A man and woman who were in the pick-up truck were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

RCMP said delays were expected on Highway 28 throughout the night Monday.
