CALGARY – Police are trying to find a man in connection with a poppy box theft earlier in November – and they need your help to identify him.

Police said on the evening of Sunday, November 8, 2015, a man entered a gas station at the 3100 block of 36 Street S.E., and approached an unoccupied till.

While he was at the counter, the man tried to open a poppy donation box.  But as the clerk was approaching, he made up an excuse and went to a Subway sandwich shop attached to the store.

Police said the man then ordered a sandwich to distract the employee, and while the sandwich was being made, he lifted the lid off the poppy fund container, removed the money and replaced the lid.

He then told the employee he would be right back, but instead drove off in a newer model, blue Chevrolet sedan.

Police said the plate was from outside Alberta and had blue writing on it.
