WINNIPEG – Former NHL defenceman Ian White was arrested by Winnipeg police early Friday afternoon and has been charged with several weapons-related offences.
The Winnipeg Police Service aren’t revealing much about the case only saying that the Steinbach, Manitoba born was detained in custody following his arrest.

White faces charges of careless use or storage of a firearm or prohibited device, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm in an unauthorized place, unauthorized importing of a prohibited or restricted firearm and breach of recognizance.
White last dressed in a NHL game with the Detroit Red Wings during the 2012-2013 season. The 31-year-old played the bulk of his eight season career with the Toronto Maple Leafs – the same team that drafted him 191st overall in 2002. White has a total of 45 goals, 134 assists and 254 penalty minutes in 503 NHL games. He split last year with the AHL’s Milwaukee Admirals and Providence Bruins, registering four goals and 19 assists in 42 games.
