HALIFAX — The jury in the Paul Trevor Calnen murder trial resumed deliberations Sunday morning.
The group of eight women and four men have been sequestered since Thursday while they try to determine the fate of the 52-year-old.
Calnen is facing a charge of second-degree murder in the death of his live-in girlfriend, Reita Jordan.
Jordan, 34, went missing in March 2013. Two months later, police charged Calnen with her murder.
On the first day of his murder trial, the 52-year-old pleaded guilty to indecently interfering with Jordan’s remains, by burning them. However, Calnen pleaded not guilty to killing her.
There are three possible outcomes for the jury, they can find Calnen not guilty, guilty of manslaughter or guilty of second degree murder.
The jury has dozens of exhibits, including two videotaped statements made by Calnen and hundreds of text messages to review.
