The Fairmont Banff Springs hotel received what appeared to be a bomb threat Friday morning, but police said there’s no evidence to suggest it was a credible threat.
A statement from the hotel said a letter arrived at 11:30 a.m. Friday, saying a bomb could be at the hotel Saturday night.
The hotel statement cited “public’s heightened concerns about their safety and security in light of recent news” and notified guests of the letter. No one was evacuated.

“After receiving advice from the RCMP, we have been unable to establish any credibility to the threat,” said the statement. “However we must take steps to investigate and eliminate any shadow of a doubt to ensure our colleagues, guests, and the general public are safe on property.”
The hotel said its property security includes “extensive internal protocols and a wide range of measures” but declined an interview with Global News to provide more details.
