SYLVAN LAKE, Alta. – Charges have been laid after a months-long investigation into a collision involving dirt bikes in central Alberta that left one man dead and a second seriously injured.
RCMP say officers found two injured males and two heavily damaged motorbikes in a gravelled back lane when they arrived at the accident scene in Sylvan Lake on Aug. 30 last year.

One of the men – a 26-year-old resident of the community – was pronounced dead at the scene, while the second person was airlifted to hospital.
Police said at the time that neither rider was wearing helmets or gloves, and neither bike was registered or street legal.
Nathan Corey Scott is facing three charges that include impaired operation of a motor vehicle causing death.
The 28-year-old Sylvan Lake resident has been released from custody pending a Dec. 22 court appearance in Red Deer.
