‘I went numb’: Lucky errors lead to Alberta man’s $2M lotto win

EDMONTON — A Sherwood Park man won a $2-million lottery after making two very lucky mistakes.

Bradley Ogurian won the Nov. 7 Western 649 draw after unintentionally ticking the box for both the Western 649 and Lotto 6/49, instead of just Lotto 6/49.

He also made a second error that made him much richer.

“I also accidentally marked my son’s birthday as the 6th instead of the 7th; it was a very lucky mistake,” said Ogurian, who selects his own numbers.

Ogurian bought his winning ticket at Britnell Husky Market at 37 Street and 160 Avenue in Edmonton.

“I thought the screen said $20,013,” he said. “But then I noticed there were too many zeros, so I asked the clerk to print out the winning numbers for me. I confirmed them over and over again in my car.”

“I went numb. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing.”

Ogurian’s immediate plans are to pay off his debts  — including his mortgage and car payments — and take a family trip.

He won the jackpot by matching all six numbers – 4, 6, 9, 10, 12 and 28.

This week’s Western 649 jackpot of $50,000 was won on Wednesday night by someone in Edmonton.
