Saskatoon media personalities walk the runway for charity

SASKATOON – For families faced with a sick child, finding affordable accommodation near the Royal University Hospital is one thing they don’t have to worry about thanks to Ronald McDonald House Charities – Saskatchewan (RMHC-SK). On Tuesday, the Ronald McDonald House 30th anniversary fashion show took place at Prairieland Park to support the cause.

An estimated 350 people were in attendance as they enjoyed amateur runway walks, cocktails, appetizers and a silent auction – all emceed this year by Global Saskatoon’s Morning News anchor Lisa Dutton.

A bunch of local media personalities, including Kevin Stanfield and Wendy Winiewski, strutted the runway dressed in some of Saskatoon’s finest designer wear.

The event raised $91,571.

Funds raised go to the Ronald McDonald House to help cover its $1.2-million annual operating budget. With that cost covered, families can stay for only $10 per night.

RMHC-SK organizers said the home can house up to 34 families at a time and there is never a day that it’s empty. In Saskatchewan, Ronald McDonald House has been helping families stay together in time of need since 1985.
