Calgary police issue warning as high-risk sex offender leaves prison

Police are warning Calgarians about a high-risk sex offender who has just gotten out of prison.

Police said on Friday that Cyril Douglas Apetagon, 29, finished a four-year jail term for break and enter and sexual assault.

He will be monitored for two years, by court order, by the police high risk offender program.

He has been convicted on various offences in Calgary and Winnipeg, such as: accessing child porn, sexual assault, aggravated assault and vehicle theft.

Police have released a photograph of Apetagon and say he is Aboriginal, 5’11″, 170 lbs. medium build, brown eyes and black hair.

Police say the public warning is meant to help people take precautionary measures, not to spark vigilante justice.
