Sylvan Lake RCMP said a speeding Dodge Durango was travelling on Highway 11 west of Eckville, Alta. at about 4 p.m. Tuesday. Police said the driver made a U-turn to avoid a spike belt, then swerved, lost control, hit a ditch and rolled in efforts to avoid a second spike belt.

Five occupants of the vehicle were taken into custody at the time; three of them sustained minor injuries and were taken to hospital.

RCMP said the vehicle turned out to have been stolen; the investigation continued as of Wednesday night.
