EDMONTON — A family was left homeless Tuesday night after a fire destroyed their house near Rimbey.

The fire broke out around supper time, on a rural property about 30 kilometres northwest of the central Alberta town.

The family was not home at the time of the fire, but Rimbey Fire Chief John Weisgerber said a few family pets may not have made it out of the house.

Fire crews remained on scene late Tuesday night dousing hot spots.
