A bus parked on a roadside caught on fire after a burning gas cylinder rolled underneath its front end in a recent accident in Chongqing Municipality in southwest China.
Surveillance video footage in Qingqi Town of Chongqing’s Filin District shows that a burning gas cylinder rolled down the road and underneath the bus, igniting its front.
The footage shows a man pulling the gas cylinder away with a hook and nearby pedestrians ran up to put out the fire on bus with extinguishers. But the bus fire was rekindled shortly after and went out of control.

Local firefighters rushed to the site and put out the fire minutes later but the bus was already severely damaged.
The burning gas cylinder was from a nearby restaurant. A restaurant staffer ignited the gas cylinder by accident when preparing food. She managed to pull the burning cylinder out of the restaurant, but didn’t expect things to go even worse.
“The (burst) gas flame was so strong that the cylinder was brought down and it rolled to the opposite side of the street,” recalled Mrs. Deng.
Nobody was injured in the accident.
