HALIFAX — A man in his late 80’s is dead following a house fire in Sheet Harbour, N.S.
Corey Beals, Division Commander for Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency, says the blaze started shortly after 8:30 a.m. Saturday at 19 Pool Road.

There were two people home at the time the fire broke out, a husband and wife. The wife was able to escape the burning home without harm. Fire crews located the victim in the bathroom, despite attempts to save him, he passed away. The man’s name has not been released at this time.

Beals says there was extensive damage to the room where the fire started, and moderate damage to the other rooms in the home.
Investigators with Halifax Fire are currently working to determine the cause of the blaze.
