A 23-year-old woman has been arrested and charged in connection with Vancouver’s 14th homicide of 2015.
Sadie Taniskishayinew has been charged with second-degree murder. She remains in custody until her next court appearance on November 10.
Police say a 31-year-old man was killed in an altercation near the Main Street SkyTrain station early Friday morning.
At about 3:30 a.m., police were called to Station Street near National Avenue and arrived to find a man lying unconscious on the ground, covered in blood.
He was rushed to hospital, but did not survive.
Police say it appears the victim was involved in a dispute with several people at a nearby rooming house. He left the building followed by the suspect and was attacked on the street shortly afterwards.
Police believe the suspect and victim were not previously known to each other and the attack appears to have been unprovoked. The accused was not injured.
The victim’s name is not being released until his identity is confirmed and his family is notified.
