WINNIPEG — An intense bike race had hundreds of Manitobans cycling up a storm Wednesday morning, including a crew of nine participants from Global News.
The JDRF Ride for Diabetes research supports 300,000 Canadians living with type one diabetes, with 21 races across the country.
Global’s Mike Koncan and Talia Ricci started off our two relay teams (winners yet to be determined), and yes there was some friendly competition.

The stationary bike-a-thon at the downtown Winnipeg YMCA had 82 teams compete, a total of more than 500 riders each peddling for 8 minutes.
Money raised supports leading research focused on curing and better treating type one diabetes.
Locally the event had raised $155,000 by mid afternoon Monday, but was still climbing. If you’d like to donate, click here to visit the website.
