WATCH: Okanagan Sun warm up for Canadian Bowl

KELOWNA, B.C. – The Okanagan Sun and Saskatoon Hilltops have a different history when it comes to the Canadian Bowl.

The Sun last won the title in 2000, while the Hilltops have hoisted the trophy eight times since then.

But it may once again be the Okanagan team’s time in the sun.

“We’re 12 and 0,” says Okanagan Sun Coach Shane Beatty. “We’ve played well this year. We’ve got to go in there and knock them off. We’re the underdog, but we’re going to go do it.”

Defensive end Brennan Van Nistelrooy says the team has to play fast, hard and physical this Saturday against the Hilltops.

“Since last year’s loss in the Cullen Cup, we’ve been using that for motivation all year through the off season,” says Nistelrooy. “I think we took four days off last year, so it’s been a long time coming. We won the Cullen Cup this year. But ultimately it doesn’t mean much unless we win the Canadian Bowl this weekend.”
