SASKATOON – Two people are in custody after leading Saskatoon police on a chase in a stolen vehicle. Officers spotted the vehicle just before 2:30 a.m. CT Tuesday in the Stonebridge area.

It had been reported stolen on Nov. 1.

Officers attempted to stop the stolen vehicle but the driver refused to stop and led police on a chase.

The vehicle struck a spike belt thrown by police and the chase ended a short time later near the intersection of Highway 16 and Boychuk Drive.

The man and woman in the vehicle fled on foot but were tracked down by a canine unit.

Police officials said the vehicle contained numerous items that appear to have been taken from break-ins in Saskatoon and the surrounding area.

The investigation continues and numerous charges are expected to be laid against the pair.
