WINNIPEG — They wear blue and gold every time they hit the field. But the Winnipeg Blue Bombers’ true colours will come out this week.
“All you’re playing for is your pride,” said slotback Nick Moore. “You’re playing for your teammates and the organization.”
Players have several days to prepare for Friday’s season finale out in Toronto – a meaningless match now that Winnipeg has been knocked out of the playoff race.
“You have to find something within,” said Moore. “You have to find something deep, something you’re playing for.”
Like a future with the club. The tilt against the Argonauts will be an audition for several Bomber rookies. Among them is quarterback Dominique Davis who could make his CFL debut.

“I just want to show that I know how to play this game,” said Davis. “That I can go out there and get a win even though we’re eliminated from the playoffs. This game does mean a lot for guys that don’t get opportunities to play.”
Sports psychology experts say having something to focus on in games that don’t matter help players stay positive.
“It’s keeping things in perspective” said the University of Manitoba’s Dr. Leisha Strachan. “I think it’s important to remember why you play, the love of sport, why you do this in the first place and bringing athletes back to that.”
Even though the Bombers currently hold the second worst record in the league, not all of the team’s numbers are bad. Winnipeg ranks fourth among all nine CFL teams when it comes to attendance, averaging 27,118 per game.
