Hiker rescued after 60-metre fall from Grouse Grind

A hiker was plucked from the Grouse Grind after he ran into trouble while hiking alone on Tuesday.

The hiker — a man in his sixties — fell off the edge of the trail near the top yesterday afternoon.

He slid about 60 metres down into a deep gully.

It took North Vancouver firefighters 45 minutes to reach him.

They were assisted by Surrey firefighters, who happened to be doing the grind.

North Shore Rescue crews also called in a helicopter to longline the victim off the steep slope.

He has a back injury along with cuts and bruises.
