An angry California mother is trying to get to the bottom of why her five-year-old son was allegedly left all alone outside his school after he became sick.
Pacoima native Erika Maldonado says her son, Tony, was picked up by his aunt recently but when she arrived she found the boy outside Sara Coughlin Elementary School alone. It is Los Angeles Unified School District policy to never leave a child unattended.
The school has yet to admit Tony was alone but the principal is “investigating” the incident, according to CBS.
“She asked who was supervising him, and they didn’t even notice that he was missing,” Maldonado told KCBS.
“I was livid, first of all,” she went on. “Why was my ill child outside of the school with no staff member watching him?”
Maldonado says the school’s principal has apologized but that’s not enough – she wants to avoid a repeat of the incident in the future.
