TORONTO — A more comprehensive picture of the final moments of Sammy Yatim’s life has emerged on Thursday from the trial of the Toronto cop accused in the July 2013 fatal shooting of the teenager, as a jury heard audio of the shooting for the first time.
Four different angles were synchronized together and released without audio on Wednesday, showing what the 18-year-old heard in the moments leading up to his death.

Audio from two civilian cellphone videos, a recording from inside the streetcar and police radio transmissions were all combined with the videos and played for jurors in court on Thursday.

The new video angles give an in-depth narrative of the shooting for the first time. The video was evidence at the trial and has been posted unedited.

The synchronized video shows what officers heard over the airwaves as they approached Yatim and how he responded to their demands that he drop the switchblade he was carrying.

The sounds of the nine shots fired by Corp. James Forcillo add a chilling new element to the video, combined with the visual of Yatim crumpling to the floor and his leg twitching as the shots rang out.
