The town of Tisdale, Sask. has officially dropped its long-time slogan. Tisdale’s mayor, Al Jellicoe, told Global News that council voted Tuesday night to retire its slogan “The Land of Rape and Honey.”

He said many people are unaware it referred to the crop “rapeseed.”

Rapeseed is a bright yellow crop that was the precursor to the modern canola and a key agriculture product of the area.

The town will now work with residents to develop a new slogan.

Jellicoe said its brand could focus on the fact that Tisdale is a modern grain transportation hub.
