Rescue officials are warning outdoor enthusiasts to be prepared after a popular backroad was partially washed out in Squamish.
People have been ignoring the warning sign and are proceeding to drive along Squamish Valley Road.
It flooded yesterday after 45 millimetres of rain fell on the Howe Sound area in a two-hour period.
The water has since receded, but parts of the road are still inundated with water.
“Be sure you take extra food, water and blankets,” said B.J. Chute with Squamish Search and Rescue.
Chute said anyone who does venture out must make sure they are ready if they get stuck for longer than expected.
“It is really important to let somebody know exactly where you are and when you are expected to be back.”
