SASKATOON – A plan to spend $14-million to protect rare grasslands in Saskatoon’s northeast has passed another hurdle. The 2,800 hectare swale grasslands is one of the larger pieces of native grasslands left in the province.
The proposal put forward by the Meewasin Valley Authority would conserve the grasslands and provide over 16 kilometres of trails, boardwalks and facilities like picnic areas.
A city committee approved the plan in principle on Monday and now goes to council for a vote.
