GRANDE PRAIRIE, Alta. – RCMP in northwestern Alberta have issued a warrant for a man believed to have threatened another man with a gun before leading police on a high-speed chase.
Mounties say Curtis Wesley Augustus, who is 34 and from Grande Prairie, is considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached.
Augustus is charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, flight from police, dangerous driving and resisting arrest.
Police say officers investigating a firearms complaint in Grande Prairie on the weekend tried to stop a vehicle in a parking lot, but the driver fled.
The ensuing police chase was called off when the suspect reached speeds of more than 200 kilometres an hour.
