WINNIPEG — It’s time again for your monthly Rewind Wednesday! As part of celebrating being on the air for 40 years, Global News is doing a different throwback every month. This month, we take a look at the Jets roster from 1975.

The 1975-76 Winnipeg Jets finished in first place in the World Hockey Association’s Canadian Division in the regular season.  And the Jets went on to sweep Gordie Howe’s Houston Aeros in four straight games in the championship series to win their first Avco Cup.

Bobby Hull’s 53 goals was 4th best in the WHA. Marc Tardiff of the Quebec Nordiques led the league with 71 goals. Hull was the only member of the Jets “Hot Line” to NOT get named to the WHA’s first all-star team.  Hull was a second team all-star.

Ulf Nilsson finished the season with 76 assists, only one off the league lead.

Jets goaltender Joe Daley led the league in shutouts with five.
