EDMONTON — The Edmonton Oilers sent their top defensive prospect down to the minors Wednesday.
Darnell Nurse, 20, was one of four players assigned to their American Hockey League affiliate, the Bakersfield Condors.

Nurse played three pre-season games, registering zero points and -1 with seven penalty minutes.
The defenceman was selected 7th overall by the Oilers in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.

He spent last season with the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds of the OHL, where he had 33 points in 36 games.
Martin Gernat, Mitch Moroz, and Iiro Pakarinen were also sent down to Bakersfield, leaving the Oilers training camp rose with 28 players (three goalies, 10 defencemen and 15 forwards).
