Man found badly injured in Highland Park dies in hospital

CALGARY – The Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit is investigating the death of a man in the community of Highland Park.

Officers were called to the 4200 block of Centre Street N.W. at around 9 a.m. on Wednesday by a witness who spotted a man covered in blood.

When they arrived, EMS say they found a man in his 40s suffering from “traumatic injuries believed to be from a stabbing.” He was transported to hospital in critical, life-threatening condition where he later died.

Although police will only say the death is considered “suspicious,” sources tell Global News it is a homicide.

Police said during a morning news conference on Wednesday that one person was in the home when they arrived at the scene.

“There was a person found in the residence who we’re treating as a witness,” said Staff Sgt. Ryan Jepson. “We have nobody in custody that we believe [is] responsible for this incident.”
