CALGARY – A 30-year-old man has been charged in connection to a locksmith scam that targeted Calgary residents in the southeast community of Lynnwood.

Police said at about 2 a.m. Saturday, a man asked a homeowner in the 100 block of Lynndale Road S.E. if he could use his phone. He claimed he’d locked himself out of his own house, which he said was just down the street. After about 30 minutes, the man left the home after borrowing a “small amount of gas money.” The next day, the homeowner tried to collect the loaned gas money, but the address he’d been given for the “neighbour” was wrong.

When the Lynnwood resident returned home, he found his wallet was missing.
